“Good condition” is too vague to reconstruct a furnished rental’s condition months later. A useful inventory pairs an item, a quantity, an observable condition and dated evidence. Prepare the sheet before travelling to Martil, Cabo Negro or Tetouan, then complete it on site with your contact. This documentation method does not replace the contract or professional review of a dispute.

Before arrival

Request the actual equipment list, key-handover arrangements and a contact for problems. Check that photographs represent the proposed property. A pool, parking space or internet connection shown in a listing does not necessarily explain access conditions. Ask about the specific property and dates.

Use one sheet per room

Create columns for room, item, quantity, arrival condition, evidence, departure condition and comment. For example: “living room, chair, four, one stained seat, photo living-03”. A specific mark is more useful than a general cleanliness judgement. For appliances, record the visible reference and the result of any test that can be performed safely.

Practical checks

  1. Count keys, badges and remote controls and record what they open.
  2. Record accessible meter readings with dates and units; confirm which bills you pay.
  3. Compare the furniture list with the items present, including bedding or crockery if advertised.
  4. Check accessible openings, equipment and water points without dismantling or working on installations.
  5. Describe visible defects by location, type and corresponding photograph.
  6. Confirm how to report a problem discovered after arrival and keep your sent message.

Take useful photographs

Photograph the room first, then the defect close up. Keep original files with meaningful names. Avoid personal documents, faces and unrelated belongings. Photographs support observations; they do not automatically establish the cause of a defect or responsibility for it.

Keep costs in a separate record

List rent, charges, included services and amounts paid before arrival. A deposit described as refundable is tied-up cash, not necessarily a final expense. Clarify its return conditions and possible fees in the applicable documents. This checklist does not determine a refund rule.

At departure

Use the same sheet and photographic reference points. Record returned items and new observations. If there is a disagreement, describe the observation and retain the correspondence. Request details and supporting documents for any disputed amount. The checklist neither authorises deductions nor guarantees a refund.

Connect the inventory to your search

Missing furniture, excluded bills and delivery costs can change the comparison between two rentals. Our furnished-versus-unfurnished tool separates the cost of the stay from refundable deposits, making those assumptions visible before you choose.
